Relying on the Surgical System to be a Divine Doctor in Ancient Times Chpt: 1

The Little Doctor Who was Almost Beaten to Death (i)

And I’m back!!! I’ve decided to pick a shorter novel this time since I will be getting a bit busy this semester! But fear not, I might decide to pick up another one along the way if my schedule clears up, so stay tune >.<

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this novel, small warning though, the author did say this novel will have male pregnancy, so if that is not your thing, you might want to skip it!

“Lift your head! I’m talking to you, who instructed you to plot against His Second Imperial Majesty?!”

Before the words fully left his mouth, a basin of cold water poured down from his head. Ruan Qing had a splitting headache as blood mixed with sewage flowed down his hair all the way to his lapel. He was tied up and kneeling on the ground and his body was cold and sore. It was hard to grit his teeth and endure, and just when he wanted to open his eyes to see his surroundings, he was greeted with another hard slap.

The officer interrogating him kicked him, “If you’re still alive, get up and answer! You were so eloquent when you lied your way into the palace, but now you’ve become mute?!”

On the side, Xiao Ziheng leisurely drank a mouthful of tea while coldly taking this scene in: “Since he’s unwilling to talk, he might as well be sold to the border as a slave. But with a body like his, it probably won’t be worth much money.”

Hearing these cold and cruel words, Ruan Qing instantly sobered up and carefully surveyed the surroundings before snapping to the realization that something was wrong.

How did his spacious and bright operating room turn into a dark and cramped cabin? And what about his neatly arranged scalpels, hemostats, needle holders, and other surgical instruments? How did they become chains and shackles?!

This wasn’t the emergency room and he was no longer the chief surgeon. This was simply a prison cell in ancient times!

He had a feeling that he might die suddenly when he did three major surgeries in a row without resting for sixteen hours, but he always thought that white angels like him would go to heaven and never imagined that a bad transmigration would happen to him.

At this time, a cold mechanical voice suddenly sounded in Ruan Qing’s mind: “Ding, the surgical system has been bound and the binding progress is 50%…..70%……90%…..”

Before he could think about what happened, memory after memory was forcefully shoved into his brain.

Ruan Qing, a doctor with the same name as him in Hexi Town, was lazy and poor in academics. By chance, he heard that the Second Imperial Prince Xiao Ziheng had accidentally sprained his knee while hunting, so he told the Imperial Hospital that he could heal it within three days. Xiao Ziheng was overjoyed and immediately called him to treat him. Unexpectedly, he turned the originally brave and mighty Second Imperial Prince into a cripple. Not only did he not get an official position, but he also made Xiao Ziheng, who was itching for revenge, furious. He was determined that someone had sent him to plot against him and threw him into prison for interrogation.

Seeing this scene, Ruan Qing wanted to faint, but he could only whimper and beg for mercy. However, before he could say anything, the official threw him in front of Xiao Ziheng like a chicken. Xiao Ziheng lifted his chin up his fan and sneered: “Ruan Qing, if you’re awake, then speak. The torture instruments here are endless and you probably won’t get the chance to experience every single one of them.”

“Second Imperial Majesty, don’t……” Ruan Qing swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said weakly, “Your injuries, I will definitely heal them, I promise……”

Ruan Qing suddenly missed the modern society ruled by law. Was the ancient Imperial power system really this terrible?!

Xiao Ziheng’s hand holding the fan tightened, “Does this mean you don’t intend to confess?” He took the fan back with a cold face and called to the people around him: “Continue beating!”

Just as the paddle was about to land, Ruan Qing wondered how his little body, which was covered with bruises, could withstand it, and immediately knelt down at Xiao Ziheng’s feet with tears in his eyes: “Second Imperial Majesty, please forgive me! The last mistake was just a momentary oversight on my part……I know that I have deceived Your Majesty and I am willing to die ten thousand times over, but what if it delays your treatment?”

Ruan Qing expressed with emotion. Fortunately, he had watched a lot of palace fighting dramas and was a bit of a skill at making up blind lies to please others.

Xiao Ziheng seemed to be persuaded and asked someone to remove his chains and shackles. He watched Ruan Qing grimace while rubbing the purple scars on his wrists and said coldly: “Ruan Qing, this Prince will give you one last chance. If you can’t heal my leg,” He gave Ruan Qing a death stare as he walked out of the prison, “Then this Prince will show you a life that is worse than death.”

Ruan Qing shivered and only dared to breathe heavily after everyone had left.

The original owner was an idiot. If he knew he didn’t have the means in the first place, then he shouldn’t have jumped in blindly. Look what came out of it. Not only did he end up provoking Xiao Ziheng, but now he had to clean up this mess. Ruan Qing looked around with tears in his eyes. There was no modern medical equipment in this damn place, no x-rays or MRIs. Even if he was a surgeon, how could he cure Xiao Ziheng’s leg?

For a moment, Ruan Qing even wanted to hit his head against a pillar to end it all, but when he was in despair, a “hissing” sound of electrical appliances came into his mind, and his whole body was pulled into the chaotic darkness.

“Ding, hello host, I am Surgical System 0028, affiliated to the Clinical Medicine Development Department. This system adheres to the concept of ‘practicing medicine and treating illnesses with supreme honor.’ The purpose is to help you become the chief physician of the Dayan Dynasty that will go down in history.”

Ruan Qing blinked, somewhat in disbelief. A system? Wasn’t this something similar to a plug-in in a transmigration novel? Could it be that God took pity on his miserable situation and specially sent a golden finger to save him?

“Then this, uh, surgical system of yours, what specifically can it help me with?”

0028 said with a straight face: “According to the system detection, the host is a chief surgeon. Naturally, you know that traditional Chinese medicine is valuable but must be simmered slowly, which will inevitably have shortcomings in surgical treatment. Therefore, this system will provide services such as MRI, vaccine development, medical cosmetology, etc., and can also redeem medical items such as hemostats, anti-inflammatory drugs, and anesthetics.”

Ruan Qing sat up suddenly and asked excitedly: “Are all these good things given to me for free?”

0028’s mechanical voice revealed ruthlessness: “Of course not. These skills require points. In the future, according to the complexity of the skills, the points required will increase sequentially. Going forward, depending on the complexity of the skill, the points required will rise in order, while every patient you cure will also receive corresponding points based on the severity of the condition.”

Ruan Qing nodded thoughtfully, in the end, he was just going back to his old profession.

Suddenly, there was some noise outside and a man’s crying voice forcefully broke into Ruan Qing’s ears: “Brother, wake up, brother! Open your eyes and look at me! This is a crime! An official has beaten someone to death!”

Ruan Qing’s expression was stern when he heard this and the occupational disease engraved in his bones suddenly broke out. He quickly stood up while holding onto the wall, walked out, and saw a farmer kneeling in tears at the door, holding a thin man who had fainted in his arms. He was twitching violently, clenching his teeth, foaming at the mouth, and his face was frighteningly white.

Without a second glance, Ruan Qing could tell that this person was having an epileptic seizure. Without active treatment, the patient might suffer from arrhythmia and circulatory failure due to high fever and hypoxia, resulting in permanent irreversible brain damage and even death.

The officials in the prison were not kind-hearted. Seeing as more and more people were gathering, some of whom even started to point fingers at them, they angrily went up and chased the two people out of the door. The farmer cried more and more sadly. He hugged his brother and refused to let go of his hand, insisting that they give a statement.

Ruan Qing sighed, such trouble would only worsen the patient’s condition. Although he was in a difficult position himself at the moment, he still decided to intervene in this matter. Just as the official raised his foot to kick him, Ruan Qing threw himself in front of them. He stretched out his grimy hand in a plea: “Big brother, big brother! Please do him a favor, he is having an epileptic seizure, if he’s not treated in time, he probably will die.”

The officials naturally didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but the fact that Ruan Qing had crippled the Second Imperial Prince was known all over the city, so how could they be assured of letting a half-assed person like him save lives?

“By you? I think you’ll blame us for his death if you fail to save him!”

“That’s right, was harming the Second Imperial Prince not enough? Now you want to drag us underwater with your half-assed skills?”

“This person is a quack, it’s better to hurry and find an actual doctor to rely on.”

……

Faced with these disdainful words, Ruan Qing didn’t pay any attention. He just squatted down to check the man’s condition, then raised his head and said to the farmer who was crying miserably: “Brother, if you don’t mind, I will help you take a look.”

The farmer wiped his nose and glared at him with red eyes, “I know you, you are that quack doctor. Not only did you cripple His Second Imperial Majesty, but now you also want to harm my brother!”

Ruan Qing noticed that the man in his arms had rolled his eyes back with an ashen face. He probably won’t last for long. With a bit of helplessness in his tone, he said: “Your brother is in a very dangerous situation now. Although I am not good at what I learned, I am still a doctor. If it’s a success, then it’s a happy event for everyone. If it’s not successful, I’ll take care of your brother’s aftermath, is that okay?”

The farmer was stunned for a moment. Indeed, his brother’s condition was so severe that it was too late to find a doctor now. If he were to die now, he would need a lot of money for his funeral. He still had an eighty-year-old mother and a three-year-old baby at home. Where would he be able to get such money to bury his brother decently?

When Ruan Qing saw him hesitate for a moment, he knew that he was moved and rushed to save him.

At this time, the system’s mechanical sound rang in his ears again: “Ding, the first patient has been detected, and the main quest is open——Perform first aid to the epileptic patient, 5 points will be awarded upon success.”

“Ding, the host currently has 0 points and cannot use any functions for the time being. Please complete the main task. After success, the mall will be opened. The host can exchange skills and medical items in the mall.”

Ruan Qing had no time to listen to the system. The man lost consciousness, stopped breathing, and was on the verge of death. He immediately performed CPR on him. After a quarter of an hour of pressing, the man’s pulse gradually stabilized and his breathing became normal. He asked a few officials to lift the man to an open place and opened his mouth to let a bunch of messy white foam mixed with vomit flow out. Everyone nearby made an audible gasp.

Ruan Qing didn’t care at all and adjusted the man’s head so that his mouth was lower than his throat to facilitate the discharge of vomit and prevent aspiration. Then he turned his head to one side and placed him on his side. He unbuttoned his clothes and belt to reduce the pressure and allow air to circulate and in order to prevent him from twitching and biting his tongue during the process, he took a rag and stuffed it into his mouth.

After a while, the man’s convulsions weakened significantly and his face gradually returned with color. He opened his eyes drowsily, saw the farmer who was crying with tears on his face, and weakly called out: “Brother.”

“Hey, he’s alive, he came back alive! He can also speak!”

“It’s a miracle. He was convulsing so violently just now and his face was so pale. I thought for sure he couldn’t be saved.”

“This little doctor is actually quite capable. Maybe he can really cure the Second Imperial Prince this time.”

……

The onlookers couldn’t help but praise him repeatedly. The farmer plopped down on his knees to Ruan Qing with his brother in his arms. Ruan Qing, who had received a modern education, was frightened and quickly went to help him up.

“I was blind before and said your skills were quack. I never……never thought that you were really the reincarnation of Hua Tuo[1]! My brother and I kneel down for you. Thank you so much for saving his life!”

Ruan Qing wiped away the sweat on his head and said with a smile: “No worries. Go back and let him maintain a regular work schedule. Don’t let him be too stressed and try to have him eat as lightly as possible. Your family members should also pay more attention to his condition.”

The farmer hugged his brother and left with a lot of gratitude, and the officials around him had expressions of slight admiration. Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief and patted his dirty clothes. At the same time, the system’s cheerful voice sounded in his ears: “Ding, congratulations to the host for completing the 1st main quest. 5 points will be awarded, officially unlocking the ‘MRI’ technology!”
