Relying on the Surgical System to be a Divine Doctor in Ancient Times Chpt: 2

The Difficult to Deal with Cat-Like Master (ii)

Edited: 03.06.2024

Ruan Qing had been tortured in prison. And the moment he was released, he ended up being caught up in another person’s affair. Before he even had the chance to catch his breath after everything, a few officers made their way in and escorted him toward the door. Ruan Qing was frightened as he shouted: “What are you doing?! His Second Imperial Majesty said he wouldn’t kill me!”

One of the officers looked up and gave him a sidelong glance, “What are you shouting for? It’s His Second Imperial Majesty who told us to come.”

After a while, Ruan Qing was stuffed into a sedan as several big men carried him toward the Prince Yan Manor. Ruan Qing couldn’t help but feel frightened when he thought about facing Xiao Ziheng’s ferocious face.

After entering the manor, Ruan Qing was washed and put into decent clothes. He carried his medicine box and went to Chengqian Hall to see Xiao Ziheng. Before he could kneel down and walk through the door, several Imperial doctors fled down the stairs in dejection and all of them had different looks on their faces when they noticed him.

“How come it’s you?”

Ruan Qing was also confused and he stood there at a loss.

Imperial Physician Sun was the one who introduced the original owner Ruan Qing in the first place. Having been deceived, he immediately glowered at him: “To think you still had the guts to show up at the manor, is it because you’re tired of living for this long?”

Ruan Qing frowned and remained silent. He wanted to go into the hall but was surrounded by several Imperial physicians. Doctor Sun gritted his teeth and said angrily: “You bastard! How dare you lie to me and cause me to be punished by His Second Imperial Majesty? This has affected my entire family. Now that we meet again, I’m going to make sure you suffer the consequences!”

There were several Imperial physicians nearby who could be regarded as Doctor Sun’s disciples. If their Master was furious, they would of course feel the same and immediately punched him so aggressively that Ruan Qing had to hug his head while shouting: “How dare you?! I was invited by His Second Imperial Majesty to heal his injuries, how dare you beat me?”

Doctor Sun shouted at his disciples to stop, but laughed back in anger, “How shameless! With your half-assed skills, there is no way His Second Imperial Majesty would let you treat him again unless he lost his mind.”

Ruan Qing couldn’t express his grievances and could only argue back stubbornly: “It was just an accident before, but this time there will be no problem.”

Doctor Sun sneered. He was implicated by Ruan Qing, lost his official position, and was now a disgrace in the Imperial Hospital so he couldn’t help but let out this anger. He looked up and down and then an evil thought suddenly emerged: “Ha, if that’s the case, then we might as well make a bet. If you can’t heal His Majesty’s injury, you will kneel at the gate of the city and slap yourself for three days, saying that you are a piece of trash and will willingly enter the Prime Minister’s residence for people to have fun with!”

Although Ruan Qing was unfazed, he was really stubborn in his bones, and his desire to win was suddenly aroused: “Okay, then I also have a condition. If I can heal him, you will go to the busiest streets in the capital and loudly proclaim that I truly am a divine doctor and that the physicians in the Imperial Hospital are all dog-eyed villains!”

Imperial Physician Sun spat fiercely in his heart, it was time to tear this eloquent mouth to pieces! He had already seen Ruan Qing’s medical skills, they were so bad that he couldn’t even understand the most basic pulse diagnosis so what was there to fear?

“Very well, I will definitely expose your true colors in front of His Second Imperial Majesty today.” Doctor Sun didn’t wait for Ruan Qing as he pulled him straight into the hall. Taking the first step, he pulled Ruan Qing to kneel down.

Xiao Ziheng was having his servant rub his injured leg as he sucked in cold air from the pain. When he saw these two people again, his heart was on fire and he angrily said, “What are you doing back here? Get lost!”

“Your Majesty,” Imperial Physician Sun kowtowed and said righteously, “I was previously deceived by this villain, which caused Your Majesty to end up suffering such harm, but who would have thought that this shameless person would come to deceive Your Majesty again? I really couldn’t just stand by and watch!”

Xiao Ziheng glanced at Ruan Qing. He was born with a pair of glassy eyes, which were very light in color. Whether he was smiling or angry, they were full of detachment, making him look even more indifferent: “It doesn’t matter, since this Prince has fallen to this point, how worse could it get? If Dr. Ruan can heal me, this Prince will tell Father to let you join the Imperial Hospital. But if you cannot heal me, I will use all seventy-two kinds of punishments on you, then chop off both your hands and feet and toss them into the back mountain to feed the wolves.”

He said these cruel words as if he were eating and sleeping and Ruan Qing started to sweat like a waterfall. Xiao Ziheng had murderous intentions and Ruan Qing was sure that he didn’t think he couldn’t heal him. And since he couldn’t get the answer he wanted from him in the first place, he could only find a reason to torture him slowly.

Ruan Qing shivered and after receiving confirmation from Xiao Ziheng’s eyes, he came up tremblingly, carefully unwrapped his knee, and held the injured leg as he gently moved it up and down.

Hiss!” Xiao Ziheng hissed out in pain, glaring at Ruan Qing in dissatisfaction.

Ruan Qing broke out in a cold sweat and smiled awkwardly. He avoided the horrific wounds on his legs as he pinched the swollen areas on both sides of his knee and pressed them, asking: “Does it hurt?”

Xiao Ziheng grunted and turned his head away without answering.

What a young master! Ruan Qing complained silently in his heart. If he wasn’t going to say anything, then he was going to pretend it didn’t hurt. He tried to straighten Xiao Ziheng’s injured leg, but he never thought that when it reached a certain point, Xiao Ziheng would grimace with a look like he was going to devour him.

“How dare you! Don’t you know how to be gentle?!”

Seeing that he was getting angry again, Ruan Qing hurriedly eased his movements. After several attempts, he found that in addition to serious trauma to Xiao Ziheng’s legs, the degree of bruises and swelling at the knees couldn’t be ignored. It was difficult to move his joints, he could barely walk with weight, and his leg couldn’t be straightened out.

Relying on these two points alone, Ruan Qing judged that it was unlikely that his bones were injured, because if it was a knee bone injury, there would be severe pain in the injured area and he would be unable to move, while Xiao Ziheng only had difficulty walking. Therefore, he believed that it was most likely a meniscus injury or soft tissue contusion, but the specific diagnosis could not be determined until a scan was taken.

“Ding! The host’s need has been detected, 0028 is at your service. Do you want to use your accumulated points to redeem a MRI?”

Ruan Qing’s heart rejoiced, this was really like a godsend, “Yes!”

0028’s cheerful mechanical voice came out: “The MRI will be loaded soon, one, two, three, turn on!”

With the “rustling” sound of electric current, an MRI scan of Xiao Ziheng’s knee gradually appeared in front of Ruan Qing’s eyes. Sure enough, he could clearly see the symptoms of inflammatory exudation and adhesion in the knee. Fortunately, the meniscus was not damaged. Ruan Qing finally made the diagnosis. It was an acute soft tissue injury. Simply put, it was a ligament tear. Luckily, it was not serious, but if it was not healed, it would still leave sequelae.

Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief and showed a heartfelt smile. Seeing his stupid joy, Xiao Ziheng thought that he wasn’t able to heal him. He was about to have an outbreak when Ruan Qing said respectfully: “Reporting to Your Second Imperial Majesty, it’s just a muscle injury at the knee. No bones were injured, please rest assured that I will definitely heal you in no time.”

Xiao Ziheng was slightly stunned. He was just about to call out to the guards and drag him to the prison, but when he heard his confidence, he didn’t know whether he was lying or not and asked with some suspicion: “Are you positive?”

Ruan Qing raised his head and looked straight at him, trying his best to make his gaze look sincere: “Ruan Qing doesn’t dare to deceive Your Second Imperial Majesty again.”

Xiao Ziheng pondered for a long time. He had seen Ruan Qing’s medical skills before, and he was basically a quack with half-assed skills. He wasn’t stupid. He had already secretly sent someone to find a famous doctor to treat him. The second appointment with Ruan Qing was just to make a fuss about the injury and dampen the arrogance of the Eldest Imperial Prince. However, Ruan Qing seemed so confident that he didn’t dare to act rashly for fear of it being another trap.

Seeing that he had remained cold and silent, Ruan Qing called him hesitantly: “Your Majesty?”

Xiao Ziheng raised his head and smiled meaningfully, “Very well, this Prince will give you one month. From now on, you will live in the Prince Yan Manor to treat me.”

Doctor Sun, who was kneeling on the ground, was dumbfounded. He looked at this and then at that in disbelief. Just as he was about to speak, Xiao Ziheng stopped him: “This Prince has heard about your bet. I will bear witness to it in person one month later. You are dismissed.”

Doctor Sun thanked him angrily and left. Before going out, he fixed his eyes on Ruan Qing, as if he wanted to poke a hole in him.

Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief before he heard a voice ringing in his ears: “Ding! Congratulations to the host for a correct diagnosis. You have obtained 10 points, which can be exchanged for drugs and medical equipment in the system mall. Do you want to enter the mall to make a purchase?”

Ruan Qing’s eyes lit up: “There’s a mall? Of course I want to make a purchase!”

“Beep! The system mall is open.” With the announcement from 0028, an interface similar to a game mall appeared in front of Ruan Qing’s eyes. Countless modern medical devices and medicines were available in abundance, categorized into advanced, intermediate, and beginner. Except for the beginner devices at the bottom, the rest of the devices were sold at a frighteningly high price in terms of points, even the hospital’s most common respirator and ECG monitors cost 20 points!

This was basically robbery! Ruan Qing took a look at the pitiful 10 points in his hand and could only buy a suture kit and a box of pain-relieving cream in the beginner equipment section with a face full of regret.

“Ding! The purchase was successful, host, please check the receipt.”

Ruan Qing was stunned for a moment, then felt the medicine box in his hand growing heavier. He quietly opened it and saw that it was the pain relief cream and the suture kit he had just purchased, and even a shot of anesthetic was included!

“0028! I love you so much!” Ruan Qing hugged the medicine box and spun around happily.

“Aren’t you going to come over? Why are you standing there dumbfounded?” Xiao Ziheng supported his head on his wrist and leaned lazily on the couch as he ordered Ruan Qing like a big boss.

Ruan Qing quickly went up obediently and looked at the horrific wounds on Xiao Ziheng’s leg. It was probably cut open by some sharp object and the wounds were deep enough to see the bones. The doctor who stitched him up obviously didn’t have great skills and the stitches were messy, which made Ruan Qing frown.

“Look at this, this is all your fault.” Xiao Ziheng snorted coldly.

The wronged Ruan Qing apologized profusely. In this situation, he could only treat the external injuries first and then the internal injuries. He took out the iodophor to disinfect his wounds and took out the thread scissors from the suture bag to carefully remove the original sutures. During the process, Ruan Qing kept secretly looking at Xiao Ziheng. His face was expressionless, but his frown revealed his inner forbearance.

“What is this that you are putting on this Prince?”

Ruan Qing honestly replied: “Sterilizing and pain-relieving medication, if it hurts Your Majesty, please tell me.”

Xiao Ziheng squinted at him disdainfully: “It’s much milder than the spirits. The other day, you poured wine directly onto this Prince’s wounds and it hurt so much that I wanted to pluck out your eyes.”

Ruan Qing let out an embarrassed smile, saying “It was an accident, accident,” while injecting the anesthetic. After a while, Xiao Ziheng’s bone-chilling pain disappeared and he couldn’t help but feel surprised.

Ruan Qing observed the wound, took out scissors to trim the necrotic tissue, then took out tweezers and vascular forceps to lift the tissue and clamp the blood vessels, and finally used a triangular needle, a circular needle, and a needle forceps to quickly sew the wound. It was clean and neat, not sloppy at all. Before Xiao Ziheng had recovered from the giddy feeling under anesthesia, Ruan Qing had finished the operation.

Xiao Ziheng’s heart throbbed slightly when he saw him busy bandaging him. It had been a few days since he’d last seen Ruan Qing and his medical skills had improved rapidly. Regardless of his pile of strange instruments, even his techniques were much more skillful, which saved him from a lot of suffering.

Ruan Qing stood up after serving him and lowered his eyes: “Your Second Imperial Majesty, please ensure the wound doesn’t touch water. Remember to eat a light diet and try not to move around too much so that we can minimize the secondary damage to the knee.”

Xiao Ziheng let out a cold laugh, “This Prince has led troops on many campaigns, do you think I don’t know this?”

“Yes, it was my oversight.” Ruan Qing rolled his eyes in his heart. This man was always trying to find fault with him when he clearly reminded him out of kindness.

Suddenly, he remembered that his cat also had this arrogant and uncommunicative look. When he connected the two, he glanced at Xiao Ziheng secretly and almost couldn’t help but laugh.

He was like a big white cat prone to having its hairs raised.

“Well done.” Before Ruan Qing could finish cursing him, Xiao Ziheng actually complimented him. Although his tone was extremely cold, it also made Ruan Qing slightly happier.

But who would have thought that Xiao Ziheng wasn’t done yet: “But it doesn’t mean that what you lied to me before can be written off. From today onwards, you will serve me every day in my room, and without my order, you cannot leave.”

“Huh?” Ruan Qing was about to cry, but Xiao Ziheng stood firm and his heart suddenly broke.
